The OUTeast Film Festival Association is the only exclusive presenter of LGBTQ+ film and video work in Atlantic Canada. We are committed to bringing the best in local, national, and international queer film to our audience in Halifax and beyond. Each June, we host the OUTeast Queer Film Festival - an action packed four-day celebration of queer film and culture. OUTeast is a registered non-profit society incorporated in the Province of Nova Scotia.

Out of Your Seats

Each year at OUTeast, we present a curated program of visual art and experimental work that complements the theatrical program. Stay tuned to our NEWS section for programming announcements.

Past guest artists have included Vivek Shraya, Elisha Lim, and Benny Nemerofsky-Ramsay.

Since 2012 OUTeast has offered a series of mentorship programs for young filmmakers that have culminated in the Work-in-Progress program. Each year the festival works with emerging artists in our community to develop their skills, create their work, and showcase their projects at the OUTeast Film Festival

Past participants have included Stephanie Young, Morgan Strug, and Beck Gilmer-Osborne.
