On Friday, June 15, OUT EAST will kick off at the Halifax Central Library with the Sundance Grant Jury Prize-winning film at 7:30 PM.

Writer/director Desiree Akhavan (Appropriate Behavior) is back with a poignant adaptation of Emily Danforth’s acclaimed coming-of-age novel, The Miseducation of Cameron Post.

Cameron Post (Chloë Grace Moretz) is your average teenage girl. But after a prom night mishap in which she is caught in the act with another young woman, Cameron is sent to a facility that seeks to eliminate same-sex attractions. Despite being subjected to discipline and “de-gaying” methods, she finds herself in a new and exciting community. For the first time, Cameron connects with others like her, and finally has a chance to see herself reflected in her world.

Balancing drama with Akhavan’s signature humor, The Miseducation of Cameron Post details the story of a young woman who is experiencing the loss of her biological family while coming into her chosen one.
